Deleting Your Account

If you need to delete your TODAY Type account, this guide explains the process and what to expect. Please read carefully before proceeding, as account deletion is permanent.

Before You Delete

Consider these points before deleting your account:

What Gets Deleted

  • Your user profile and personal information
  • All your typing test history and statistics
  • Your progress, achievements, and badges
  • Leaderboard rankings and records
  • Learning method preferences and settings
  • Linked social accounts (Google, Microsoft, Apple connections)

What Cannot Be Undone

  • Account deletion is permanent
  • Your data cannot be recovered after deletion
  • Your email can be used to create a new account, but as a completely fresh start

This Action Cannot Be Undone

Once your account is deleted, all your data is permanently removed. There is no way to recover your progress, statistics, or achievements.

Alternatives to Deletion

Before deleting, consider these alternatives:

Take a Break

  • You can simply stop using TODAY Type without deleting
  • Your account remains available if you want to return
  • Your progress is preserved

Hide from Leaderboards

  • If privacy is your concern, hide your name from public leaderboards
  • Go to Account Settings and enable "Hide from Leaderboards"

Leave an Organization

  • If you want to disconnect from a team, you don't need to delete your account
  • Contact your team administrator to be removed from the organization
  • You keep your personal account and progress

Unsubscribe from Emails

  • If you're receiving too many emails, adjust your preferences
  • Use the unsubscribe link in any email
  • Or update email preferences in your settings

How to Request Account Deletion

For Individual Users

To delete your personal account:

  1. Contact Support
    Send a deletion request through our contact form.
  2. Include Required Information
    Provide:
    • Your registered email address
    • Confirmation that you understand this is permanent
    • Brief reason for deletion (optional, helps us improve)
  3. Verification
    We may send a confirmation email to verify your identity.
  4. Processing
    Account deletion is typically processed within 5-7 business days.

For Team Members

If you're part of an organization:

  1. Contact your team administrator first
    They need to remove you from the organization.
  2. Request personal account deletion
    After leaving the team, follow the individual user process above.

For Team Administrators

If you want to delete your organization account:

  1. Cancel your subscription first
    Go to Billing and cancel any active subscription.
  2. Export any needed data
    Download reports and any data you want to keep.
  3. Contact Support
    Request organization account deletion through the contact form.

Export Your Data First

Before requesting deletion, export any data you want to keep. Download your statistics, progress reports, or any other information from your profile.

What Happens to Your Data

Immediate Actions

  • Your account is deactivated
  • You can no longer sign in
  • Your profile is removed from public view

Data Removal Timeline

  • Profile data - Deleted within 30 days
  • Test history - Deleted within 30 days
  • Backup systems - Purged within 90 days

What May Be Retained

Some information may be retained as required by law:

  • Billing records (if applicable) - Required for tax/accounting purposes
  • Aggregate, anonymized statistics - Not personally identifiable
  • Legal compliance records - As required by applicable laws

After Deletion

Creating a New Account

If you change your mind later:

  • You can create a new account with the same email
  • This will be a completely fresh account
  • No previous data, progress, or achievements will be available

Rejoining an Organization

If you need to rejoin a team:

  • Create a new account
  • Ask your administrator to send a new invitation
  • You'll start fresh with no previous history
